Thangalaan, The Great Indian Kapil Sharma Show 2 and more Top 7 OTT releases of this week

The Greatest of All Time, aka GOAT, released in theatres on September 5, 2024. It was one of the biggest and most anticipated movies of this year. Directed by Venkat Prabhu, the film stars Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role. It is the Tamil superstar's second last movie before he quits acting to join politics. The film opened to Rs 44 crore on its first day and has seen a dramatic up and down in numbers so far.


It has been ten days since the movie was released in theatres and the numbers look promising so far. As reported by Sacnilk, GOAT has earned Rs 13 crore on September 14 (Saturday), which is a good jump considering the numbers were week during the weekdays. The overall box office collection is now Rs 197 crore in India. It means the actioner is all set to join the Rs 200 crore club soon. It's quite exciting news for the actor and his fans.


But compared to his 2023 biggie Leo, GOAT is far behind in terms of numbers on its 10th day. Last year, Thalapathy Vijay's Leo was inching closer to Rs 300 crores in the domestic market at the box office on its tenth day of release. As per several entertainment news portals, the Lokesh Kanagraj movie had collected approximately Rs 287 crore by day 10. So Vijay's latest movie has to mint better numbers in the coming days to maintain his good streak at the box office.


Meanwhile, in GOAT Thalapathy Vijay plays the double role. During an interview, director Venkat Prabhu revealed that he treated the action thriller as a farewell to the superstar. The movie also stars Prabhu Deva, Prashanth, Ajmal Ameer, Sneha, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Jayaram, Mohan, Premi Amaren and others. The superstar's last film is being helmed by H Vinoth and it is tentatively titled Thalapathy 69. It will hit theatres in October next year.

Yesterday, the makers of Thalapathy 69 shared the first poster of Vijay's last film. In the caption, they wrote, "We are beyond proud & excited to announce that our first Tamil film is #Thalapathy69, directed by the visionary #HVinoth, with music by the sensational Rockstar @anirudhofficial. Super happy to collaborate with the one and only #Thalapathy. @actorvijay. The torch bearer of Democracy is arriving on Oct 2025."
